PAINTING IS BRAT
✅ Party antics and being cool? Maybe, maybe not.
✅ “…accepting your imperfections while embracing the chaos”? Definitely.
Charli XCX has described the “brat” album ethos as “me, my flaws, my f--- ups, my ego all rolled into one.”

ABOUT LADY PAINTER
This is the first in a series. There’s a feminist art history lesson buried in this concept: up until the late 1800s, women who wanted to paint but who were barred from art school because of their gender frequently painted what was accessible to them: domestic scenes, children and mothers, and subjects like flowers. They were often looked down upon as amateurs because those subjects weren’t “serious” (like war or mythology or sex) and were given the *cute* name “lady painter”.
Lady painters were genteel, their style inoffensive and soft, their subject matter a consolation and relief, safe and above all appropriate. A group of French women struck out on their own and changed the face of women’s art education - I’ll make a tee about them soon.
As post-post-post modern painters in the western world in 2024, we can take this design on face value as well as claiming the equal status of painted subjects:
This tee is for ladies who paint and/or painters of ladies.
Personally, I’m both.
