Become a Patron of the Arts.

PATREON: the online platform that enables patronage of artists (like me) and creativity (like mine).

If you’ve never heard of it, Patreon (pronounced PAY-tree-on) is a platform that helps people like you to support artists on their creative journey. As a patron, you can choose the amount of support you want to provide. The greater the support, the more connected and personal your experience will be.

I set up a Patreon account in 2021 and am finally in a headspace - and art space - to activate it.

Years ago, I watched Amanda Palmer's great TED talk called The Art of Asking. I've never forgotten her message - that people want to help when they love what you do, all you have to do is give them an opportunity. Recently, I listened to a podcast on The Abundant Artist about going off social media and onto Patreon instead. The guest, Gwenn Seemel, said that patronage is transformed when you don't see it as charity, especially when you allow people to give in an unconditional way.

While I won't be leaving Instagram any time soon, I do find myself wondering about the depth and reliability of the connections we have on that social media platform. I want to have a closer relationship with people who interact with my content and who regularly buy my work, a relationship that is reliable instead of algorithmic and which doesn't exist solely in an Inbox. The idea that I can speak directly with supporters of my journey and have a fun framework in which to give back, rather than just shouting into the IG ether, is an exciting one.

My offerings will be a work in progress this year but I think Patreon will be a beautiful way for me to deepen my commitment to my artistic practices and to enjoy sharing my journey with my close supporters, in an intimate way. Initially, what I offer "in return" will be what I already do: merch, artwork, photographic experiences.

Patreon will give those of you who appreciate my work, my process, ideas, paintings and photographs, a range of opportunities to participate. You will be able to do so in a regular, very direct way via a monthly subscription. You'll pick a “tier” that ranges from small and no-frills to something more involved.

If becoming an artist’s patron sounds like something you’d like to explore, tap HERE and you will be put on the waiting list for the launch of my Patreon Page.

I have been watching some wonderful artists create an interactive, transformative experience through their Patreon. My "Patron Programme" will evolve as I do and I would love you to come on the journey with me.
