Song-writing for everyone! Honestly: musicians, artists, story-tellers and human beings - the experienced, the novice and the curious. All are welcome.
In this evening workshop, London-based Aotearoa artist, bandleader and composer, Bridget Walsh (@lovefrombridget on IG), will guide you through some new and interesting ways to approach your creative process through the act of lyric and songwriting. Whether it’s to help shift a writer’s block, to find a fresh perspective, or simply just for the magic of trying a new way to approach your craft.
WHEN: Wednesday 11th November, 6:30pm til 9pm
WHERE: Amanda's Studio (directions will be sent to all participants)
WHAT TO BRING: (1) A journal or notebook that you love, something that inspires you to write! (2) Your preferred writing device.
TICKETS: if this workshop is slightly beyond your means, please reach out to Bridget directly via her Instagram. There are discounted rates available, all you have to do is ask x
There will be a keyboard onsite, but if you play guitar, ukulele or another similar acoustic and group-friendly instrument, please feel free to bring it along - though this is not AT ALL necessary, as the workshop is primarily based on lyric-writing and the voice, rather than instrumental composition. Sharing will be encouraged but will be in NO WAY mandatory - this will be a safe and comfortable space for you to explore and evolve your embodied artistry, with all care and no pressure.
The act of creating is an incredibly valuable way to help share and process experiences and emotions, heartaches and triumphs and all sorts of stories in between. Sometimes you’re writing or making for a specific purpose, a specific show, a specific brief or a specific project - sometimes you’re creating for the joy, for the healing or simply just for you. And some days, the creative flow comes a lot more naturally than others... .
Whether you’re an established professional, a regular writer or a very-first-timer, this workshop will be a welcoming and collaborative gathering, offering a new space with new voices which - even if you’ve experimented with all the tools and prompts before - will always trigger something new, because that’s how art works! New variables = new art! It will be especially valuable for those with an interest in lyric-writing and storytelling with words, but will help to generate ideas and an evolution of your artistic voice, whatever your practice.
