I'm on The Creative Kind again! Talking about the 100 Day Project 2026.

This week I made another appearance on The Creative Kind. If you haven’t heard of it, TCK is a podcast about the many and varied aspects of being a working artist. It’s a practical, interesting listen, whether your job is an arty one or not.

I’ve been a guest in the past, talking about painting (prior to my 2024 solo show) and about Studio Life. This time we had a conversation about The 100 Day Project. We talk about my personal clay-based adventure called Household Gods as well as the group Journey I facilitated this year.

Above, you can see everything I completed over the course of the international 100 Day Project which ran from Feb 22nd to June 1st. I hand-built most of it, taking beginner’s wheel lessons and experimenting with lots of different glazes.

After Day 100 I’ve kept going, creating 22 pieces from a single 10kg bag of clay across June. They’re in the process of drying and being fired. I’ll glaze them and eventually share the collection on my website.

I have pencilled the 1st of August as Release Day, so mark your diary if you’re a ceramfan. The collection is a combination of dishes, vessels, and candlesticks, varying from palm-sized to two-hands-only. Here’s what they look like at the moment:

In addition to my own project this year, I guided a group of plucky humans through the “creative camino” that is a 100 day project.

On Feb 22nd there were 80 of us and in the end 50+ people crossed the finish line on June 1st - a number which reflects the mutual support, enjoyment and camaraderie of a gorgeous community experience.

When we started I had no idea how inspiring that community would be. I also found out that I loved guiding people through the expedition, cheerleading and challenging when appropriate.

In conversations since the finish, people have told me how the project shifted things for them, activating new business projects, rekindling artistic flames, and enabling them to make creativity an essential aspect of their day to day. And they've all emphasised how important the community was to their sense of capacity and courage.

I will definitely run a 100 Day Journey next year so, if you listen to the pod and it sparks something in you, let me know if you might be keen to come along in 2027.

I'm posting this the day before Matariki here in New Zealand, a time for rest, remembrance of loved ones past, and for setting new intentions.
