EVADNE (2024)
A continuation of my work with the figure in colour, begun in preparation for my Embodiment solo show in 2024. Inspired by a quickly-drawn sketch of an art model by Klimt, she is one of many explorations in this collection of the value in repetition and departure.
All of the women in the Embodiment and Encore collections are named after figures from Greek mythology. They are fluid, sensual water sprites, embodied in the 21st century. Daphne was one of the first names I collected and I felt she was perfect for this painting: a laurel tree spirit, green crowning glory.
